Jason Plummer - Republican for Lt. Governor

About Jason

Jason Plummer, the Republican nominee for Illinois Lieutenant Governor, resides in Edwardsville, fifteen minutes outside of St. Louis where he serves as Vice President of Corporate Development at R.P. Lumber Company, a family-owned and operated business. Jason also works in related personal and family businesses, focusing on property development, real estate services, and private equity investments. Jason is proud of the fact that R.P. Lumber and related businesses are involved in creating and maintaining more than 1,000 quality jobs throughout Illinois.

Jason does not spend all of his time in the private sector. He also serves his country as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Navy Reserves, fulfilling a life-long dream of serving in the military. His passion to serve others has also generated an interest in politics. He has been involved in numerous campaigns and causes, including serving as an intern to former U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald and, after graduating from the University of Illinois, in Washington, D.C. at the Heritage Foundation – the well- respected conservative think-tank and public policy institute.

At the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Jason earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the College of Business. Like back home, Jason was active in the community at the University of Illinois, including serving as the Vice President of the student body. After returning from Washington, D.C., Jason was elected the Chairman of the Madison County Republican Party, where he has served for several years as a dedicated Republican precinct committeeman.

Jason emerged from a tough six-way primary as the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor. He credits his victory to the hard work and dedication of a great team of family, volunteers, and staff committed to improving our great state. As he often puts it, "Our struggles in Illinois are not due to a lack of talent or resources in Illinois, they are due to a lack of leadership in Springfield." Jason is working hard to bring this new brand of leadership to Springfield – leadership that will work to address the serious issues Illinois faces.

According to Jason, "The office of Lieutenant Governor is only as large as the vision of the person in the office. For far too long the office of Lieutenant Governor has been an under-utilized asset. We need people who will work hard and look long-term and see this as an opportunity to help the people of Illinois." The message that the Plummer campaign delivered in the primary was a message of simple, common-sense ideas. "It is not about increasing taxes on the people and businesses in Illinois, it is about increasing the tax base – providing an environment where more businesses can make it and thehardworking people of Illinois can find quality jobs to support their families."

Jason looks forward to tapping his personal experiences and those of many talented people around Illinois to take our great state back to where it should be – the economic hub and breadbasket of the United States.
